Hyperventilating Left: Wanting to Repeal Obamacare ‘Fascist’

May 10, 2017

According to some of the things our left-leaning friends are telling each other, wanting to repeal Obamacare is an example of “fascism”.  I suppose America was fascist from 1776 until Obamacare was passed in 2010?  I suppose America has since enjoyed a brief period of being a non-fascist state, 2010 to present?

I don’t want to put too fine a point on it, or become a broken record, but I think this kind of ascribing bad intentions to half of the country for disagreeing with you about public policy is extremely unhealthy, both for the individual and for democracy and small-“r” republicanism.  I think it’s unhealthy whether you’re equating dissent from your point of view with “racism”, “fascism”, or flavorofthedayophobia.  We can’t have good-faith disagreements if you insist on assuming bad faith whenever anyone disagrees with you.

And yes, the fact that you keep doing it is part of how we ended up with Trump in the first place.

Agree? Disagree? Thoughts?
