Government Workers: Government Workers Don’t Work as Hard

April 9, 2012

Via COAST and the Washington Examiner, according to a Rasmussen poll, even government workers admit (46-32) that government workers don’t work as hard as the rest of us.  (The original Rasmussen report is apparently here, but full article available only with subscription.)

Note that federal-government employees are also paid a lot better for their lackluster work.

And we’re supposed to care about this why?

  2. If you care so much about how much doctors are paid and how hard they work, when they aren’t even your employees, shouldn’t you care all the more how much government workers are paid, for how much work? YOU are paying them! Unless you don’t earn enough to be taxed, I guess, in which case, you should have nothing to say one way or the other about how other people’s money is spent. If Chillingworth pays taxes, of course he should care.

You are an angry individual. I like it! Hmmm, who do I want to work hard harder – the guy replacing my heart or the guy replacing my license plates? Anyway, the gist of the post is not that government workers do not work hard, it is that they don’t work as hard as their private sector counterparts. This is no revelation. I’m not going to worry about my two cents of tax money that goes toward some government employee who is not working as hard as I think he should be, which is not that hard at all, because again, I don’t care.

      • I intervene at this point only to point out that this seems to be a tic with Snoodickle; I can’t account for it. Here are two other examples of times he has called the person who disagreed with him “angry” when, as far as I can tell, the other person had expressed no anger.

      Ha!

It’s not really a fair comparison, Chillingworth. Government employees are selfless public servants, every one of whom *could* be making twice as much in the private sector (just ask them!) It’s really not fair to expect them to work too hard. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth…even if you’re paying for it.

Aren’t service members government employees? Maybe we should ask them if they work hard when they get back from Afghanistan.
